British Columbia and Alberta: On Mountains
62
If it was really up to me, I would have written nothing to go along with these photographs. What words can I use to describe the magnificent mountains which I photographed while traveling through the western boarder of Alberta and the north-eastern part of British Columbia?
Mountains are magical for me. The strength I was able to borrow from them was incredible. I felt a constant field of energy surrounding me at all times when I was up in the mountains. I had an overwhelming sense of well-being. It is difficult to explain. One would have to go up in the mountains for themselves, away from all that is taught and expected of one in our societies to fully understand what I am trying to say here.
I had been away from mountains for almost twenty years. It had been way too long. There was a cry inside me to be in the mountains, to see mountains and to spend some time amongst them. I see mountains as teachers, providers and for my ancestors the Dacian people, the mountains were the place where they would retreat from invading armies. My people survived thanks to the mountains. I will forever honor any mountain and the ones which I visited in British Columbia and Alberta were simply magnificent.
I have many more photographs of mountains, lakes, rivers. I was able to capture a few times some of our animal cousins who were always around. I am thankful for everything. This last trip of mine was just perfect. It beat my expectations in many ways. As I make sense of the hundreds of photographs and the multitude of memories running through my mind, I will have more posts to follow. Western Canada is a gorgeous part of the country and I have a feeling I will have to go back there soon.
Enjoy the photographs and thank you for taking the time to do so. Cheers!

I lived with those mountains most of my life, and I'm always just a little amused with the reaction of those that see them for the first time. Much of the feeling you describe is the physical affect of altitude -- you're not used to it. We who live there, are. But yes, they are so very beautiful. I always felt a sense of sublime humility, an understanding that my life is little more than that of the field mouse before such grandeur. So I take it you had a good time in my home province? Lynda
The photographs are spectacular. The world you capture with your lens is truly beautiful and a reflection of the beauty inside you that you project on the canvas of your life. This is a place I will certainly one day visit and I thank you sincerely Mr Wolfman Jack for sharing these beautiful images with us.
BTW why didn't you visit Lynda while you were there especially when you were thinking about her?
Amazing photographs,I agree with you, they need nothing more to be said about them.Totally gorgeous
To Spirit Whisperer, Because Lynda is in Florida.
Mr Happy, these are amazing pics of the mountain. I agree with you that mountains are magical, spiritual and awe inspiring. Several friends and I visited the Rocky mountains about ten years ago and I had an outer body experience just driving towards the mountain range. That was the closest that I've ever felt to God, heaven or the ultimate depth of my soul. Everyone in the car was having a spiritual moment as we approched the mountains; the feeling got more and more intense. I felt like I was unable to contain my emotions.
That was definitely magical!
Hi Mr Happy, I'm so fortunate to be able to see these mountains every day from my home in Calgary. On a clear day they look so magical, especially when they are covered with some snow and the sun is shining!
Thanks "Wolf Man"! I'm in the, hilly, flatlands. My brother, however, lives in a mountainous part of Ca. And I now seem to have a new love for the mountains. Much the same way that the ecean can, they can seem to bring on a peace. A serenity. A wonderment. Wish I were in the mountains right about now. : )
